Basketball Recap: Briana Mcelroy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Swink over Granada

Swink suffered their closest loss since January 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Granada Bobcats by a score of 39-36. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Swink's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Briana McElroy, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelynn James, who earned nine points.

Granada was led to victory by Paula Aguirre and Dayzriana Quintana. Aguirre dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while Quintana had eight points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. That's the most steals Quintana has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emri Neugebauer, who scored six points and seven boards.

Swink's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Granada, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Swink will square off against Swallows Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Granada, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Granada Bobcats face off against the Holly Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
