Baseball Recap: Richland County Takes a Loss

Richland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-2 to the Marion Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Cooper Hires made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Redman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Richland County's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Richland County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marion, they will challenge Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
