Interview with No. 1 NBA Draft pick and former Gatorade Athlete of the Year award winner.

A year ago, Karl-Anthony Towns, dressed, as he said, "like a scientist," won the 2014 Gatorade Athlete of the Year award, and gave perhaps the most stirring acceptance speech in the 13-year history of the ceremony.

Last week, Towns was a presenter for the award at the LA Hotel Downtown, and helped announce the 2015 winner, Kyler Murray, a star quarterback from Allen (Texas).

Towns, who led Kentucky to 38 straight wins to start the season, was the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft by the Minnesota, told us after the ceremony that the last 361 days have flown by.

"It's been crazy," he said. "There's been new experiences and new journeys. I've been blessed ever since I won the Gatorade award last year."

Friendly, outgoing and grounded, Towns added, "I'm going to be the same person I always have," and "I want to go out and continue to make my parents proud."

He also gave advice to Murray, talked about his goals for the upcoming NBA season and the relationship he'll continue to carry with former Kentucky teammates.
