Softball Recap: Spring Mills Find Success

Spring Mills was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Mercersburg Academy Storm by a score of 9-6. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Chloe Munson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sabrina Nutter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Ashbey Darlington was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Spring Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Spring Mills' win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Mercersburg Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Spring Mills will host Hedgesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Mercersburg Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Lawrenceville School at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
