Softball Game Preview: Academy at the Lakes Wildcats vs. Cypress Creek Coyotes

The Academy at the Lakes Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

While Wildcats fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They never let Anclote onto the board and left with a 16-0 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, Cypress Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over King.

Emily Bowling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bowling was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Makayla Trianni looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Cypress Creek let Lindsey Bowling and Brianna Aguay loose on the outfield. Bowling went a perfect2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Aguay got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Bowling a new career-high in hits (two). Solenia Suarez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Academy at the Lakes came up short against Cypress Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 8-5. Can Academy at the Lakes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
