Lake Minneola comes up short despite Landon Blackwell's dominant performance

After a string of three wins, the Lake Minneola Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Lake Brantley 46-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Minneola has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Lake Minneola still got an impressive performance from Landon Blackwell, who scored 17 points. Blackwell has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Colbert, who scored seven points.

Lake Minneola's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Lake Brantley, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Lake Minneola and Lake Gibson will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Gibson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Lake Minneola is ranked 154th). Lake Brantley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
