Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennedy). They blew past the Lincoln Fighting Zebras 18-3 on Saturday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Alyssa Vallery was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vallery was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also stole a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kira Griffin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gia Smith was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kennedy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Lincoln is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will face off against Rio Americano at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Kennedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Lincoln, they will square off against Twelve Bridges at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
