Basketball Game Preview: Spencer County Bears vs. Bardstown Tigers

The Spencer County Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Bardstown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spencer County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Bardstown likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, Spencer County escaped with a win against Owen County by the margin of a single free throw, 71-70.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bardstown). They blew past Marion County 85-62 on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won four games in a row.

Bardstown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for Spencer County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Everything went Spencer County's way against Bardstown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Spencer County made off with a 70-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spencer County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
