Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Saint James' Winning Streak

After flying high against Berkeley Springs on Thursday, Saint James came back down to earth. The Saints lost 10-3 to the Boonsboro Warriors on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Saints, who until this game were averaging 2.33 runs allowed.

Lily Schlotterbeck ?26 was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The defeat snapped Saint James' winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-2 record. As for Boonsboro, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Saint James wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-1 loss against Hedgesville on the 19th. As for Boonsboro, they have also already played their next contest, a 19-0 victory against Berkeley Springs on the 19th.
