Basketball Recap: Smithsburg Comes Up Short

Smithsburg was the 83-30 winner over Boonsboro when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Smithsburg Leopards took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boonsboro Warriors on Thursday. The Leopards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Boonsboro was led to victory by Blake Main and Blake Marquis. Main posted 14 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Marquis went 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Bwana, who had ten points.

Smithsburg's record now sits at 1-5. As for Boonsboro, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Smithsburg will challenge Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boonsboro, they will head out to take on Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Williamsport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Boonsboro likes a good challenge.
