Basketball Recap: Kingstree Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kayden Scott and Mal'aki Matthews

Kingstree was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 58-43 bruising from the Lake City Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-37 back in December of 2024.

Kingstree's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mal'Aki Matthews, who posted 14 points, and Kayden Scott, who earned nine points.

Blayne Edwards was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-10 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds for Lake City. Edwards has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Kenjae Burgess was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Kingstree's defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Lake City, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Kingstree does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake City, they have already played their next match, a 54-43 loss against Marion on the 13th.
