Softball Recap: Padua Franciscan Comes Up Short

Padua Franciscan had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it four. They lost 13-7 to the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by exactly six runs.

As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's part, Annaliese Racic looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Maya Rowan was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Wooke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

While Padua Franciscan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
