Recap: Morrill Lions vs. Hay Springs Hawks

The Morrill Lions lost against the Hay Springs Hawks last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Morrill received a tough blow as they fell 61-47 to Hay Springs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morrill in their matchups with Hay Springs: they've now lost four in a row.

Morrill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teige Whetham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Pittman Ashwin, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.

Hay Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tripp Buettner out in front who scored 23 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Buettner scored 15 or more points. Hunter McDonald was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Morrill has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Hay Springs, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
