Softball Recap: Vance Charter Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Vance Charter won against Franklin Academy last Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Knights didn't even let the East Wake Academy Eagles on the board, marking the Knights' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

Leah Rice made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Aubrey Puryear was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Katelin Guerrant was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Vance Charter's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for East Wake Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Vance Charter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-3 win against Northern Durham on the 23rd. As for East Wake Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-5 defeat against Rolesville on the 23rd.
