League recap: Winter Springs win leads to rise in state rank

Winter Springs moved up to 249 from 313 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 7A District 3. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Timber Creek 20-6.

Oviedo took down East River 43-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Edgewater's JB Woodman and Tim Miller have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Woodman has thrown for 658 yards this season, while Miller, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 18 catches for 252 yards. Jurell Green from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 870 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Fightin' Eagles take on Oviedo. Edgewater is in third place, while Wes Allen's team is in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when Dave Wensyel's team and the Lions face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Fightin' Eagles comes in having scored 93 this season, while Oviedo has scored 201. Edgewater scored 14 points last week as it lost to Dr. Phillips.

Lake Howell made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,766 from 6,579. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 37-22 victory over Colonial last week.
