Softball Game Preview: Redding Christian Lions vs. Hoopa Valley Warriors

The Redding Christian Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Hoopa Valley Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Redding Christian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Redding Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Anderson and fell 9-8.

Klara Wakeman put in work no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Victoria Eckstein was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Andreza Souza also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Redding Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hoopa Valley fell victim to Elmira and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Falcons.

Redding Christian's record now sits at 1-7-1. As for Hoopa Valley, their record is now 0-2.

Redding Christian suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to Hoopa Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Redding Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
