Football Game Preview: Gilbert Tigers vs. Ballard Bombers

Gilbert hasn't had much luck against Ballard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Bombers at 7:00 p.m. Gilbert is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Gilbert's victory against Carlisle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Tigers made off with a 14-13 win over the Wildcats. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Wildcats are ranked 89th) , the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ballard). They breezed past Des Moines North to the tune of 56-14 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bombers considering their three-point performance the matchup before.

Gilbert's record now sits at 6-0. As for Ballard, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Gilbert took a serious blow against Ballard when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 40-0. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
