Basketball Recap: Bayonne Takes Down Ranked West Orange

On Tuesday, Bayonne faced West Orange in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bayonne Bees managed a 58-52 victory over the West Orange Mountaineers. For the Bees, this counts as revenge for the 35-27 win the Mountaineers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

West Orange's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyley Gary-Grayson, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and seven boards. Rhyan Watt was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Bayonne's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for West Orange, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season.
