Basketball Recap: Durango Takes a Loss

Durango played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks, falling 62-34. The Trailblazers were down 49-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Durango's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amia McKinney, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. What's more, McKinney also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Amarie Riley was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Desert Oasis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayla Cage led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Bermudez, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Durango has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. As for Desert Oasis, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.

As of now, neither Durango nor Desert Oasis have any future games scheduled.
