Basketball Recap: Avinger Takes a Loss

Avinger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They took a blow against the Sulphur Bluff Bears, falling 65-32. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.

Avinger's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of De'Angelo McIntrye, who posted 15 points, and Austyn Alexander, who scored eight points. Those eight points gave Alexander a new career-high.

Avinger's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Sulphur Bluff, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avinger will square off against Saltillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saltillo will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Avinger surely won't give up without a fight. Sulphur Bluff has already played their next match (against Bloomburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
