Baseball Recap: Vernon Comes Up Short

Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Altha Wildcats, falling 16-1. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Vernon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Dyer, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Altha, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vernon will venture away from home to square off against Malone at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Altha, they will head out to face off against Poplar Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Altha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.5 runs per game this season.
