Softball Recap: Peoria Panthers vs. Agua Fria Owls
Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 39th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Agua Fria Owls. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-8 last Tuesday.
Anieah Lewis was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Olivia Hierholzer was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Agua Fria, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
Looking ahead, Peoria will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Deer Valley at 3:45 p.m. The Skyhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
