Softball Game Preview: Delavan Panthers vs. Blue Ridge Knights

The Delavan Panthers will take on the Blue Ridge Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Delavan is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Delavan blew Princeville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Princeville got their revenge. The Panthers fell just short of the Princes by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 11th.

Mia Mammen spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Delavan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nola Houston, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge fell victim to Sullivan and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Redskins, falling 10-0. The Knights have struggled against the Redskins recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Delavan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Blue Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Delavan came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
