Basketball Recap: Bynum Piles Up the Points Against Trinidad

Bynum hadn't done well against Trinidad recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 61-18 stomp they got against the Trinidad Trojans. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Bynum's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madi Westmoreland, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten blocks. Westmoreland has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Compean, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.

Bynum has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.2 points per game. As for Trinidad, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Bynum won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Three Way at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Bynum's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Three Way's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Trinidad, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Neches at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
