Recap: West Phoenix Eagles vs. Imagine Prep Storm
The West Phoenix Eagles lost against the Imagine Prep Storm back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. West Phoenix had to suffer through a rough 76-45 loss at the hands of Imagine Prep. West Phoenix has struggled against Imagine Prep recently, as their matchup on Monday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why West Phoenix lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daniel Schoen. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Schoen scored a full 37.8% of West Phoenix's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Gipson , who scored 8 points.
Imagine Prep was led to victory by Brady Heuseveldt and Jaylen Cassidy. Heuseveldt dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds, while Cassidy scored 20 points along with 9 assists. Another player making a difference was Hayden Kelton, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
West Phoenix now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Imagine Prep, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Phoenix will square off against ASU Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (ASU Prep is ranked 185th, while West Phoenix is ranked 181st). As for Imagine Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against BASIS - Scottsdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
