Volleyball Recap: Warde Mustangs vs. St. Joseph Cadets

Warde waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the St. Joseph Cadets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.

Warde was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least eight points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 25-6.

Warde can attribute much of their success to Kayla Huynh, who had 15 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Carolan, who had 14 digs.

Warde kept the net locked down and finished the game with 22 blocks. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least six blocks in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

St. Joseph's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mckenna Stratton, who had 12 digs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Pason, who had 22 assists.

Warde's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warde will square off against Trumbull at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Joseph, they will venture away from home to take on Greenwich at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
