Preview: Moreno Valley Vikings vs. Temescal Canyon Titans
The Moreno Valley Vikings will stay at home for another game and welcome the Temescal Canyon Titans at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Wednesday.
Last Thursday, Moreno Valley didn't have too much trouble with Vista del Lago at home as they won 84-65.
Jamall Thompson was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Moreno Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Palm, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Temescal Canyon came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Hemet by a score of 60-51. Given Temescal Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Hemet is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory got Moreno Valley back to even at 11-11. As for Temescal Canyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
