Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Carson walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Crenshaw Cougars a 36-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Colts have won nine games by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Chris Fields iii produced another solid performance throwing for 154 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards.

Carson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Xavier Allen and Kingston Sula, who racked up four sacks between them. Allen has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played.

The win was the eighth in a row for Carson, bringing their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.3 points on average over those games. As for Crenshaw, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Looking ahead, Carson will take on Kennedy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colts will need to watch out since the Thunderbirds have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine contests. Crenshaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
