Softball Recap: New Prairie's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither New Prairie nor Boone Grove made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cougars walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Wolves. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won six matches in a row.

Kerrigan Evans was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Abby Harmon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

New Prairie's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Boone Grove, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Prairie will square off against Penn at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kingsmen have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Boone Grove, they will take on Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
