Basketball Game Preview: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. San Marcos Royals

The Rio Mesa Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the San Marcos Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rio Mesa is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Rio Mesa came up short against Santa Barbara and fell 86-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (58), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, after only 30 points in their last matchup, San Marcos made sure to put some points up on the board against Pacifica on Tuesday. San Marcos claimed a resounding 70-37 win over Pacifica. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

The victory got San Marcos back to even at 3-3. As for Rio Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Rio Mesa suffered a grim 73-48 defeat to San Marcos when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rio Mesa was down 41-18.
