Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty suffered their biggest loss since February 1, 2024 on Thursday. They were dealt a 56-20 defeat at the hands of the Quincy Notre Dame Raiders. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the defeat, Liberty had strong showings from Maddy Gibbs, who posted four points and nine rebounds, and Claire Obert, who earned two points.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Quincy Notre Dame, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-2.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-43 defeat against Macomb on the 8th. As for Quincy Notre Dame, they have also already played their next contest, a 63-34 victory against Clopton on the 7th.
