Recap: Apex Friendship Patriots vs. Apex Cougars
The Apex Friendship Patriots can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They secured a 40-35 W over Apex. That's another feather in the cap for Apex Friendship, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Apex Friendship can attribute much of their success to Ailani Collazo, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Cyrus, who scored five points.
Apex's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Richardson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Kiyah Mangum, who scored nine points.
Apex Friendship's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10. As for Apex, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will challenge the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Middle Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Friday. As for Apex, they will head out on the road to face off against the Imps at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cary will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
