Baseball Game Preview: Ashville Bulldogs vs. Dora Bulldogs

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Having struggled with 13 losses in a row, Ashville turned things around against Southeastern on Saturday. They blew past the Mustangs 12-5. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jaden Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since March 6th. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since March 1st.

In other batting news, Ashville got a big performance out of Charley Hyde, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Hyde a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Easton Layfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Ashville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Dora made easy work of Locust Fork on Saturday and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper Martin was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Martin, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Dora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. Ashville's victory bumped their record up to 8-17.
