Basketball Game Preview: Merritt Oilers vs. Snyder Cyclones

The Merritt Oilers will head out on the road to face off against the Snyder Cyclones at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Saturday, Merritt lost to Hammon at home by a 56-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Warriors are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Snyder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Mangum, falling 42-19. The contest marked the Cyclones' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Merritt and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Snyder, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything came up roses for Merritt against Snyder in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Merritt since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
