Basketball Game Preview: Spearfish Spartans vs. Harrisburg Tigers

Spearfish is 1-6 against Harrisburg since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 2:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Spearfish ended up a good deal behind Brandon Valley and lost 76-61. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Lynx are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harrisburg). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-25 win over Douglas. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Harrisburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Spearfish, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Spearfish was able to grind out a solid victory over Harrisburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 61-52. Does Spearfish have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harrisburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
