Softball Recap: Haverhill Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Haverhill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Billerica Memorial Indians on Wednesday. This was payback for the Hillies, who suffered a 5-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cayla Irwin (2025) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaelyn Mizzaglia (2025) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Moscaritolo (2027), who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

The win got Haverhill back to even at 3-3. As for Billerica Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haverhill will host North Andover at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Billerica Memorial, they will challenge Methuen at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
