Softball Game Preview: Housatonic-Lakeview Mountaineers vs. St. Paul Catholic Falcons

The Housatonic-Lakeview Mountaineers will challenge the St. Paul Catholic Falcons at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Housatonic-Lakeview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mount Everett Regional on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-5 win.

Meanwhile, St. Paul Catholic entered their tilt with Torrington on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Kozlak made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, St. Paul Catholic let Julia Kozlak and Lily McCulloch run wild. Kozlak went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while McCulloch went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Breyona Demora, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

St. Paul Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted in their last 11 matches.

St. Paul Catholic pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Housatonic-Lakeview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
