Baseball Recap: Ridgedale Comes Up Short

Ridgedale extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rockets have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Kolin Neville made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Oliver, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Cory-Rawson, they moved to 2-7 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Cory-Rawson's side, Mason Hall made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hall is becoming a predictor of Cory-Rawson's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Hall was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Austin Inbody was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Mason Fruth was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
