Preview: Bob Jones Patriots vs. Austin Black Bears
Bob Jones is 2-7 against Austin since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bob Jones Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Austin Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Last Friday, Bob Jones strolled past Sparkman with points to spare, taking the game 31-13. Bob Jones pushed the score to 31-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Sparkman cut but never quite recovered from.
Bob Jones' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyren Washington, who rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Bob Jones also got a significant boost from Kj Jackson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.
Meanwhile, everything went Austin's way against James Clemens on Thursday as Austin made off with a 28-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Austin, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Bob Jones now has a winning record of 4-3. Austin has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first eight matchups, giving them a 6-2 record.
Bob Jones couldn't quite finish off Austin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 28-26. Can Bob Jones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
