Basketball Game Preview: Tennessee Vikings vs. David Crockett Pioneers

Tennessee is 1-9 against David Crockett since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tennessee Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the David Crockett Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Tennessee will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Elizabethton, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Tennessee came out on top against Elizabethton by a score of 65-54 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led David Crockett over Elizabethton in every quarter on their way to victory last Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that David Crockett blew Elizabethton out of the water with a 77-37 final score. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Tennessee better focus on containing Brylee Tullock and Bella Ferguson as the pair were huge in David Crockett's win. Tullock went 8 for 19 en route to 21 points and five rebounds, while Ferguson posted 13 points along with seven assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Ferguson a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Story, who had 12 points and five boards.

David Crockett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

David Crockett's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Tennessee, their record now sits at 8-11.

Tennessee was taken down by David Crockett 75-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Tennessee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
