Baseball Game Preview: Baxter Springs Lions vs. Girard Trojans

The Baxter Springs Lions will face off against the Girard Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Baxter Springs has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Girard will come in with three straight wins.

Baxter Springs fell victim to St. Mary's-Colgan and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Girard got the win against Erie on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Girard pushed their record up to 3-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Baxter Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
