Soccer Game Preview: Waterford-Halfmoon vs. Maple Hill

The Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians will head out to face off against the Maple Hill Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Waterford-Halfmoon's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last five matchups.

Maple Hill better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Waterford-Halfmoon's game on Monday is any indication, that's when Waterford-Halfmoon really gets things going. The Fordians blew past Hoosick Falls 8-0. Waterford-Halfmoon's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Despite a strong season so far, Maple Hill has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Greenville.

Waterford-Halfmoon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those three matches. As for Maple Hill, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Waterford-Halfmoon came out on top in a nail-biter against Maple Hill in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fordians since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
