Volleyball Recap: Chequamegon Starts Season with Victory Against Gresham Community

Chequamegon gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gresham Community Wildcats, sneaking past 2-1.

While Chequamegon might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Gresham Community scored at least 15 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 11-15.

Sydney Rybak paced Chequamegon's offense, picking up six kills. Rybak got some help from Jalen Brunell and her 15 assists. Brunell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Gresham Community's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Chequamegon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Three Lakes on the 26th. As for Gresham Community, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Prentice on the 26th.
