Baseball Recap: Blackman Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blackman). They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Cleveland Blue Raiders on Thursday. The Blaze's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Blackman let Kenneth Colon and Daffy Norment run wild. Colon scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Norment went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those runs were Colon's first of the season. Austen Leban was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Blackman's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cleveland, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackman will host Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blackman's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Northwest's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cleveland, they will welcome Yough at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
