Softball Recap: North Davidson Gets the Win

North Davidson won the last time they faced Ledford and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Black Knights had just enough and edged out the Panthers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Black Knights have posted against the Panthers since April 22, 2021.

Rileigh Barker made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Barker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Heidi Barker was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Summer Sheek, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.

North Davidson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Davidson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Ledford, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3.

North Davidson has already played their next contest, a 6-2 win against West Davidson on the 2nd. As for Ledford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-4 victory against Eastern Randolph on the 2nd.
