Baseball Recap: Pearl City's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pearl City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Dakota Indians by a score of 11-8. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won six games in a row.

Jared Runkle was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 6.2 innings pitched. Runkle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kip Martens and Myles Freedlund did most of the damage at the plate: Martens got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Freedlund went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Freedlund is becoming a predictor of Pearl City's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacob Runkle, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Pearl City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pearl City pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Dakota, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
