Baseball Recap: Canyon Del Oro Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Canyon del Oro and Cienega, and Canyon del Oro kept the tradition alive. The Canyon del Oro Dorados never let the Cienega Bobcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Tuesday. This was payback for the Dorados, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Regen Mazura, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Cienega off the board. Mazura has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tarrell Reid and Francisco Rivero did most of the damage at the plate: Reid scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Rivero got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hoyler, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Canyon del Oro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cienega struck out ten times.

Canyon del Oro pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cienega, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon del Oro will take on Maricopa at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Cienega, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cienega Bobcats duke it out with Casa Grande Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Casa Grande is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
