Recap: Simon Gratz Bulldogs vs. Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs
The Simon Gratz Bulldogs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They strolled past Maritime Academy Charter with points to spare, taking the game 56-42. Given Simon Gratz's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Maritime Academy Charter is ranked 635th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jabrelle Dennison, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sihaaj Johnson, who scored nine points.
Maritime Academy Charter lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaseer Mann, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jadin Aviles was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Maritime Academy Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Simon Gratz is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Maritime Academy Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
