Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. LaVergne

The Riverdale Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the LaVergne Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each matchup than the last.

Riverdale had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the three-goal drubbing they dealt St. Andrews-Sewanee two weeks ago. The Warriors put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 4-1 victory. Riverdale might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

They hit St. Andrews-Sewanee with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ervin Pojoy, Kelvin Armstrong, Larson Love, and Khalil Arman.

Meanwhile, LaVergne didn't have quite enough to beat Wilson Central on Friday and fell 3-2.

Riverdale's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for LaVergne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Riverdale suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to LaVergne in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
