Baseball Game Preview: Hawley Bearcats vs. Christoval Cougars

For the second straight game, Hawley will face off against Christoval. The Bearcats will take on the Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hawley is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Hawley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Christoval get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Keegan Ables, who gave up just a hit to keep Christoval off the board. Ables has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Romo was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jesse Nieto also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hawley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Hawley pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Christoval, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9.
